My mum's birthday was coming up, so I decided to make her a special gift! Now the only problem was, what special gift was I going to make her?! Then a few days later I came across this tutorial on how to use playing cards to make a book about reasons you love someone. Knowing how sentimental my mum is, I thought it was the perfect gift!
You can find the tutorial on how to make these "Reasons" at PaperVine!
This is my own take on the tutorial, hope you all enjoy it!
What You'll Need:
* Pack of Playing Cards
* 2x Book Rings
* 1x Card Stock 30x6cm
* Modge Podge (I used Paper Matte)
* Paint Brush (To apply modge podge)
* Scissors
* Hole Punch
Instructions:
1~ Start of by making your cards with Reasons on them. You can find the tutorial Here!
2~ Punch 2x holes into every single playing card at the same place.
{Tip}I found it made it easier to punch the holes over the small squares in the corners, so I knew I was punching them in the right place everytime.
3~ Take your card stock, and fold it so that one of the folded sides is as long as a card. Then fold the longer side again so that it also is as long as a card. Then fold 1-2cm at the end of the card stock. Then take some modge podge on your brush and put it on the folded 1-2cm piece. This will be used to glue against the inside to secure your stand.
4~ After the stand has dried, take your hole punch and punch 2 holes at the top of your stand.
5~ Open your book rings, push them through the holes in your stands, and then start adding your cards in the order they should be.
Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial, and will be busy reminding your loved ones how much you love them! :)
If you did make this project, please post a photo to my Facebook Page, I'd love to see it!

This is a FABULOUS version of the project - and thanks for linking back to my blog too.

I've seen the original and have been meaning to make one. The stand makes it even better! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMay be i would create three cards more for a monthly theme - just my two sence.

Did you also use glossy photo paper for the reason cards like the original or did you print them on a different paper?
ReplyDeleteHi Niki!
DeleteI just used plain paper, since I wanted a slightly matte finish :)
I wanted to do the 52 Reasons I Love You project for the boyfriend for Valentine's Day and I'm SUPER glad I came across your version. The stand is a fabulous idea and I'll certainly be using it. Very creative way of spicing it up and making it more creative. Thank you so much for posting!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much for being so sweet Megan! (That's actually one of my bestfriends name!) I hope your boyfriend loved it!
